Week 6 Reading: Share This

This week in Share This, our class learned about how social media maintains a company's values in order to develop strategic content to segmented audiences. Based on the platform, the social media site used must follow how the audience views information.

On Facebook, users keep in touch with friends and family by viewing posted material, LinkedIn allows professionals a means to connect on a professional level, Twitter keeps up with specific followers in real time through micro blogging, and Google plus is...still struggling.

Engaging with audiences on social media is not an easy task. Because we so often use sites we feel like pros and take little effort into creating meaningful content. We share irrelevant and advertisement heavy information frivolously without regard for the reader's interest or how they will access it.

By producing helpful and insightful information specific to a target market, brands, companies and communication professionals will reach more users and spend less time on wasteful content.
